Abstract:

The Herzog–Schönheim conjecture asserts that, in any partition of a group into cosets of proper subgroups, two subgroups have the same index. We prove the conjecture for every finite group of order less than $2000$ by combining arithmetic restrictions on subgroup indices with an exhaustive computation in GAP.
